GNATS

This release incorporates multiple bugfixes and enhancements, including an upgrade to autoconf 2.59 generated configure scripts, new PR numbers are reported to the client upon new submissions, performance enhancements to the indexing code, code cleanup, and various bugfixes.

3 major problems have been fixed. Paragraphs longer than 512 chars in PRs are no longer lost during edits. With the X-Gnats-Notify mail header field present but empty, gnatsd will no longer crash. When the classes file contained a large number of entries, gnatsd will no longer crash. Other fixes include the addition of missing timezone abbreviations so that GNATS now correctly recognizes them in mail headers, and fixes to the Emacs interface. Gnatsweb was updated to 2.8.0, and tkGnats to 3.0.18. Only people with existing installations of GNATS 3 should upgrade, as GNATS 4 is coming fairly soon.

This version features a fix for a potential format string
security vulnerability which could possibly be exploited to
run arbitrary code on the host system.

This release is almost a full rewrite. It features vastly
improved customization, allowing sites to customize
virtually all aspects of GNATS behaviour, especially to
define custom fields of any type, an improved network
daemon that now allows direct problem report
submission, it can verify the contents of problem
reports before they are submitted and it provides more
database setup information to the remote tools, much
more powerful database queries, password encryption,
and a thoroughly revised and largely rewritten manual
