Scid vs. PC is a powerful chess toolkit. It has extensive database and PGN file handling capabilities, and can be used to play chess on the internet (with FICS), against a computer chess opponent, or for chess grandmasters to prepare for tournament matches. Additionally, Scid vs. PC can run automated computer tournaments with chess engines playing against each other.

This release has some nice new features for the Free Internet Chess widget. Players can now observe their friends' game(s) while playing one themselves, and also load previous games for analysis using "smoves". Other notable additions include win/draw/loss bargraphs in the Tree Window, clickable Tablebase moves, and UCI Game and Tournament improvements. The Spelling.ssp file has been updated to January 2012.

Most changes are focused mainly on the database. They include interruptable tree processing, support for custom flags, annotation and book changes, and a handy gamelist speedup. Tree processing should be on parity with SCID. The Search and Maintenance widgets now support custom flags, and there are new widgets in the Gamelist to manipulate them. Annotation includes a "score only" feature, and the Book window supports two books side-by-side. Ubuntu 11 should now be able to compile this out of the box.
